Help Wanted: Volunteer trappers
Are you an experienced trapper interested in vacationing along the coast in Montenegro?
Kotor Kitties is developing the first TNR program in the country and we would love your help!
Montenegro is still “virgin territory,” without experts or other programs to call on. If you can operate semi-independently this might be a great chance to see the scenery, work with bilingual locals or through Google translate, and do a great deal of good for the cats needing TNR.
Kotor Kitties can provide translated materials, traps (there are 26 traps now in the country), carriers, tarps, towels, wonderful vets, and translators in all areas who can help! We can put you in touch with local feeders who need help.
Also, if you would be comfortable, we might be able to arrange for you to do a small TNR “workshop” with a translator. More likely (and so far more successful) is that we can have some locals help you and learn as they go. We haven’t gotten anyone beyond basics, but cultural change is slow, right?
Mid April-June and September-October are warm enough to paddle a kayak without a dry suit and enjoy the sun, but without the summer gridlock caused by tourists and cruise ships. The winter months are cool and wet − much like Seattle. But that’s a great time to catch the females before they become pregnant!
One of our US volunteers likes to go during the winter months and is happy to share an Airbnb with trappers who come to help. Contact april@kotorkitties.org if you are planning an “off-season” visit for TNR!
