Our Fresh Market Gatito, in Podgorica

One of Kotor Kitties’ founders was staying in Podgorica in 2018, where a charming cat with a big “sore” caught her attention as she shopped at the local pijaca, or fresh market. The big-cheeked Tomcat had obviously been in a fight and had a nasty abscess between his eyes.

Gatito didn’t realize that his new friend has serious skills with cats! Before he could protest, the boy was whisked into a pink paisley carrier and taken to visit Dr. Marija Georgieva at Royal Vet.

As nasty as the abscess appeared, once it was treated the big tom returned to his patrol at the market where antibiotics were administered each day. As soon as the infection was cleared, he returned to Royal Vet to be neutered.

Fast forward two years and our Gatito continues to supervise the vendors and customers at the pijaca. He enjoys a peaceful life with comfortable beds, the chair of his choice, ear scratches and treats. He recently had some trouble with his teeth, so his Kotor Kitties and Royal Vet friends are making sure he gets the dental work he needs.

Quite the Lounge Lizard, our boy!
