Support and Sponsorships
The Directors, Trustees, veterinarians, caretakers and volunteers of Kotor Kitties are grateful for each supporter and donor! It takes ALL of us, each doing what we can, to spay and neuter the cats and change the situation for animals in Montenegro!
Listed below are several foundations and individuals who have had a substantial impact with their gifts and sponsorship:
The Pollination Project was the first foundation to invest in our vision of hope and change for the animals in Montenegro and the people who care for them. They provided funding to have a professional designer help our volunteers with the overall look of the website, and a local Montenegrin translator make the Montenegrin website a reality!
SNIP-International helped our TNR project grow, with several donations of humane traps, recovery cages, injection cages, and other equipment necessary to safely handle the “untouchable” cats in Montenegro. Thank you for helping Montenegro’s “uncatchable” cats be humanely caught and handled for their spay-neuter surgery!
In 2022 we were honored that SNIP-International awarded us a grant of £5,500 pounds to increase the pace and impact of our spay-neuter surgeries.
The Cold Noses Foundation sponsored the sterilization and castration of 178 cats in our race to spay as many cats as possible in the run-up to the 2020 kitten season. We are very grateful, and people told us there was a noticeable decrease in abandoned kittens during 2020!
This wonderful foundation has again sponsored our work for 2021-22 kitten prevention, with funding for 180 cats and purchase of drop traps for TNR! (There’s a reason these are called “a trapper’s best friend!”)
Nancy’s Animal Fund is a private, donor-designated charity that generously supports our spay-neuter work. We are so grateful that Nancy discovered us on Facebook and helped by sponsoring approximately 180 cat surgeries in 2020 and 2021! And we are over the moon with delight that Nancy’s Animal Fund increased their commitment for Montenegro’s cats for 2022 to $20,000.
Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare allowed us to step up our game during winter-spring 2021, by funding sterilization of approximately 560 cats in this year’s run-up to kitten season! All 4 of our partner vets were able to schedule surgeries freely, which gave everyone a wonderful feeling. No waiting lists! SUST has also donated food for street cats and for a small dog sanctuary in Niksic, and kitten formula, which is such a valuable resource for the vulnerable babies who are abandoned throughout the country.
The Marchig Animal Welfare Trust challenged us to secure commitments to match their grant to spay-neuter 180 cats. After an initial reaction of “how on earth can we do that?” we called on the many great donors who support our work on behalf of Montenegro’s cats, and surprised ourselves by raising the required amount with a few days to spare! Kotor Kitties is thrilled to have received this challenge and this award to help more kitties!
We are grateful to the Jean Sainsbury Animal Welfare Trust for supporting us with a grant in November 2021. This increased our big push for winter sterilizations before ‘kitten season’ hits Montenegro in the spring.
We were delighted that Opstina Kotor, the municipal government, awarded its first-ever contract for animal welfare to our registered NGO! This project helped improve the health of cats and reduce the burden on their caretakers by funding 124 spay-neuter surgeries. The funds also allowed us to purchase badly needed traps, carriers, and signs promoting spay-neuter of pets.
Because Montenegro is such a tiny country, with a population of only 620,000, it is at the tail end of everyone’s supply chain! We are grateful that MontVet’s distribution business agreed to partner with Kotor Kitties to help provide an affordable vaccine supply for Montenegro’s cats.Thank you, Pedja Stojovic, for joining our team in caring for community cats!

Alice Noakes Charitable Trust
Kotor Kitties is grateful to the Trustees of the Trust for carrying out the wishes of Alice Noakes to fund work to improve the welfare of animals. Their gift to Kotor Kitties will fund more spay-neuter surgeries because prevention is the kindest way.
